Transmigration ( A Case Report)
Hulki GÖRGÜN* Purpose: Transmigration is a rare dental anomaly which is unique to the mandibular permanent canines. This is a case report with a brief review of the related literature.
Case Report: Transmigration of a mandibular right canine was
observed in a 15 years old male. Proper positioning waimpossible and the tooth was surgically removed to prevent any possible destruction to the adjacent tissue and structures.
Conclusion: Early detection of a malposed tooth is based on panoramic radiographs taken at the mixed dentition. If a deviation from the regular eruption pattern cannot be corrected by
interceptive measures, the surgical removal of the tooth should be considered to prevent the possible damage to the numerous teeth developing along the path of migration. Keywords: Transmigration, Impaction, Canine teethTurkiye Klinikleri J Dental Sci 1997, 3:116-118
