The Determination Of Effectiveness Of A New Canal Disinfection Solution On Bacteria Isolated From Root Canals Of Infected Teeth
Handan AYHAN* Purpose: In this study, a new product derived from 8-hydroxyquinoline and which is used to disinfect, clean and dry the root canal's is evaluated.
Materials and Methods: Various dilution solutions were applied on Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escheria coli, Klebsiella, Staphylococcus aureus, anaerob Peptococcus, anaerob Corynebacterium (difteroid ), Streptococcus viridans, Candida albicans. The disinfection effect was determined by Index Rideal Walker Fenol Method.
Results: It was found that application concentration of the solution was only effective on Streptococcus viridans.
Conclusion: The use of higher concentration of a new product derived from 8-hydroxyquinoline should be preferred for the effective disinfection root canal therapy.Keywords: 8-hydroxyquinoline, Root canal, BacteriaTurkiye Klinikleri J Dental Sci 1997, 3:94-98
