An Alternative Approach To The Evaluation Of Color Stability

Purpose: In this study evaluation of the reliability of an alternative method introduced by the authors and based on a personel computer having a photoshop programme was aimed in terms of color stability analysis by comparing the results with those obtained by CIELAB a conventional technique recording the color changes.
Materials and Methods: Color stability tests (CIELAB and a
personal computer with photoshop programme) were applied on two different acrylic resin base materials, are polymerized by heat and pressure and the other by microwave energy. Also ness-cafe and orange juice of standard concentrations were used as the staining solutions. The results were statistically compared using Student’s-t test.
Results: Similar results were obtained by the two color analysis techniques in all the groups evaluated.
Conclusion: The alternative method based on a personel computer with photoshop programme was found to be a detailed, reliable and practical method when compared with the CIELAB color analysis technique.Keywords: Color stability, Acrylic resin.Turkiye Klinikleri J Dental Sci 1997, 3:112-115
