Adenocystic Carcinoma Of Upper Lip And It's Reconstruction With Karapandzic Method (case Report)
Nihat TUNCER*, Alper ALKAN**, Ahmet KESKİN*, Erdal ERDEM*** Purpose: We aimed to present the surgical treatment of an adenocystic carcinoma of upper lip by using Karapandzic method.
Case Report: The patient was a 63-year-old man. A palpable lesion was present on the right side of the upper lip. Induration extended approximately 1 cm. deep into the lip. No cervical lymph nodes were palpable. The lesion was excised totally. The resultant defect was reconstructed by using Karapandzic method. Histopathologic evaluations showed adenocystic
carcinoma.
Conclusion: A myriad of options are available for the reconstruction of defects resulting from the excision of lip carcinomas. Surgical management of lip carcinomas must accomplish the following objectives; preservation of lip function, satisfactory postoperative appearence and, rapid rehabilitation. Therefore, the frequent use of Karapandzic method in lip reconstruction still keeps the current interest. Keywords: Adenocystic Carcinoma, Lip Reconstructions, KarapandzicTurkiye Klinikleri J Dental Sci 1997, 3:79-83
