Vertical Bone Augmentation

aPeriodontoloji ABD, Gazi Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi, ANKARA Dental implants has become an excellent treatment modality in modern era of dentistry. The placement of dental implants is based on the amount of alveolar bone present in the edentulous site. Insufficient alveolar contours may require bone augmentation procedures to restore an adequate bone volume before implant placement. The biggest surgical challenge clinically is to augment lost bone vertically. Several techniques have been developed to increase bone volume for ideal placement of dental implants. The purpose of this article is to review currently available techniques for achieving greater vertical dimension before implant placement, the success and potential complications of this techniques. Keywords: Dental implants; osteogenesis; alveolar ridge augmentationTurkiye Klinikleri J Dental Sci 2007, 13:107-113
